Sally Brown founded The Purple Kitchen Company in 2000 after 16 years working for large corporations and establishing marketing and PR departments at companies such as Courtaulds plc and The World Gold Council.

Sally’s passion for food began when she was young. She was brought up in a commercial kitchen by parents who were both restaurateurs, gaining an early understanding of food preparation, hygiene, ingredients and flavours. She went on to study home economics at A Level and to offer specialist catering services. Through the success of Purple Kitchen she has subsequently gone on to run local authority training courses for teachers involved in food projects for the early years (children aged 2-4 yrs).

It was while bringing up her own children that Sally realised that there was a generation of children whose parents were not passing on basic life-skills related to cooking and nutrition. This inspired Sally to expand The Purple Kitchen to include the cookery school which together with Kate Morris was established in 2003.

The Purple Kitchen cookery classes ensure that children aged from two to four approach cooking with no fear of failure.  Using innovative techniques, the lessons give the children a sense of achievement that empowers them to feel confident about the ingredients and their cooking skills.

Married with two teenage daughters – who started cooking when just 18 months old - Sally spends her free time in the kitchen where she likes to ‘stir things up’ and create new recipes – including a cake for her dog’s birthday which was made from grated carrot, peanut butter with a cream cheese topping.
